This Month In Milborne – October 2021

The end of October’s fixtures ends with the Reserves still looking for their first points of the season with two games postponed & three losses from the three games played this month. The first of which was a heavy 9 – 1 loss away to Bournemouth Electric (Sat) followed by a 4 – 1 defeat to Alderholt. The month ended with a bad tempered game at home against Blandford United Reserves with Brad Cheney & Bret Lewis sent off for Milborne along with three opposition players, the match ending 3 – 1 to Blandford United Reserves.

Josh Gear is the current top scorer on 2 followed by Jake Rawlings, Aaron March & Grady Crittall on 1 each. Mark Bennett’s side end the month in 13th, kept off the bottom of the table by virtue of Swanage Town & Herston Reserves points deduction.

In contrast, the A-Team have had a good month, winning four out of five matches in October. Starting the month with a close 3 – 2 loss away to Team Gryphon Reserves (Saturday), this was followed by four wins on the bounce with a 5 – 0 win at home to Keinton Park Rangers Reserves, a 6 – 3 win in the reverse fixture against Team Gryphon Reserves (Saturday), a 2 – 1 win away to RLS FC & a great 6 – 0 win away against Barwick Reserves, with five goals scored by Scott Dixon.

Scott Dixon is also the team’s top scorer on 10, followed by Ed Pullen on 6, Adam Sprake with 5, Jake Wilkie 4, Kieran Bungay, Alex Roadley & Lewis Collins on 3, James Pinkawa & Ollie Daniels on 2 followed by Bret Lewis, Josh Harrison, Scott Martin, Ryan Darbyshire & Alfie Ferrari all on 1. This all leaves Ben Crossley’s team second, three points behind top placed South Cheriton United Reserves.

In the Veterans game for October, they make it two wins from two with a 2-1 win at home to Merriott Rover’s Vets. Duncan Beardsley is top scorer on 2, with Simon Fox, Robert Whitmarsh & Adam Knight on 1 goal each. The Vets are currently third on goal difference with the top three all on 6 points.

Mark Bareham’s Under 16 team had two games called off in October so only played three times with two wins, beating Stoke Youth U16 3 – 2 & Merriott Youth U16 Eagles 8 – 4, losing the last game of the month 8 – 2 at home to Street Youth U16. This leaves them tied with the rest of the top 4 on 9 points, sitting in fourth on goal difference.

The Under 15’s carried on their great form, winning all but one of their matches this month. They won 7 – 2 & 8 – 1 against Westlands Sports Youth U15 Whirlwind & Ilchester Youth U15 Piranhas respectively. This was followed by a postponement and a 5 – 3 home loss to Ashcott Youth U15 but they ended the month on a high with an 8 – 1 win at home against Sherborne Town Youth U15 Saints. This great form from Jody Baunton’s U15 sees them top on 18 points.

The Under 14’s started off October with a great 15 – 3 win over Merriott Youth U14 Knights, which was followed by two postponements and then consecutive 7 – 1 results beating Bruton United Youth U14 Bears then losing to West & Middle Chinnock Youth U14 Kings. They are third on 12 points.

The Under 12’s won two and lost one in October with every match ending 3 – 1! Wins against Wessex Youth U12 Raiders & Stoke Youth U12 Harriers were followed by a loss to Street Youth U12. They end the month in 2nd on 6 points.
