First Team Season Review 2020 / 2021
Milborne Port’s first team came within touching distance of winning the league, finishing just a point behind eventual winners Queen Camel after the title race went to the final game.
Three wins and a draw in September saw the season get off to a great start, which carried on into October with Jack baker’s team winning all three matches. A draw and a win in December meant they went into lockdown unbeaten.
However, the first game back after lockdown saw this run come to an end with a loss against Templecombe Rovers. This was followed by a 5 – 2 win over Wagtail and another loss against Queen Camel which would end up being pivotal in the league title race. A win would round off April with just one match in May.
A convincing 5 – 0 win over Odcombe in the final game wasn’t enough however, with Queen Camel winning narrowly 3-2 on the final day to clinch the title.
Congratulations must go out to Jack Baker and his team on a great season which without the disruption caused by Covid 19 & the resulting lockdown could have brought the Yeovil & District League Premier Division to Milborne Port. Special mention to top scorer Macauley Biddle who also tops the goal scoring charts for the league with 18 goals in 14 games!
